Our express blended learning HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Course is very popular with topics covering many emergency situations likely to require first aid. So you will learn how to provide first aid with confidence. Delivery options are a 2 hour face to face with online workbook via Training Desk and 100% online.
In the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Course you will learn skills to preserve life, prevent deterioration, and promote recovery. It includes initial intervention prior to professional medical help, eg CPR, and the complete treatment of other less serious conditions such as applying water for burns.
Course Details
Purpose:
Gain the confidence to deal with an adult or child casualty when help is required.
Entry Requirements:
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Pre-course study:
Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.
Online study:
Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
Students completing the 100% Online Course will require first aid training equipment for the video conference practical assessment session. Your training provider will arrange this upon your booking.
Course Format:
- Online Training with Face to Face Assessment – 60 minutes (minimum) face to face assessment with the addition of 6 hours of self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course.
- 100% Online Training – self paced online learning with a scheduled 1.5 hour (minimum) video conference practical assessment with a trainer.
- Blended/Refresher delivery – 6 hours (minimum) face to face course with the addition of 2 hours self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course
Assessment:
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
- Performance tasks and Practical scenarios
- Simulated First Aid Scenario – Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
- Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario
- Perform CPR on an infant
- Identify and Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
- Manage a casualty with asthma
- Treat a choking casualty
- Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
- Provide treatment for a casualty with a nosebleed
- Treat a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
- Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
- Treat a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)
- Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions

What to wear
Wear comfortable casual clothing to kneel or lay on the floor, bandaging and other practical applications of First Aid. Writing material is not necessary – bring a pen.
What to bring
Proof of identity: NSW Drivers License, Passport, Birth Certificate, Student Identity with Photo. See the guidelines.
Provision for Lunch: Most training locations are close to shopping centres or a cafe. If you do not want to buy your lunch please bring it with you for longer courses
